“Ceri established the International Award at our school. She has extensive knowledge of the program, of outdoor pursuits in general and of the possibilities for adventure in Southern Germany. This knowledge helped students to design suitably achievable, but equally challenging and rewarding expeditions.
4elements took care of everything, from training students (and supervisors) how to use a compass and read a map, through to organising equipment, transportation and accommodation on treks. As supervisors or assessors, we were able to simply turn up and fulfill our role with ease, meaning weekends away were fun and rewarding."
Paul Dawes, Teacher and Bronze and Silver Award Leader, Bavarian International School
"Ceri Temple provided excellent Expedition organisational skills and also guidance in the field. Her pedological skills were very evident in the calm but assertive manner she was able to talk to all participants.
In terms of the Expeditions, having someone do all the basic administration and groundwork prior to carrying out the expedition was most helpful. In particular, Ceri Temple spent time doing a recce of all areas, talking to farmers and obtaining permission for campsites, arranging travel timetables and sorting mapping and route planning. Briefing / debriefing and filling out of Logbooks was also valuable.
In terms of acting as an intermediary with the national operating authority, Ceri Temple has the diplomatic skills ( in a foreign country ) to ensure local operating authorities are properly trained, and have carried out the right courses. This was very much appreciated by all volunteers not fully familiar with the rules and regulations applicable here in Germany – these also changing with time.”
Gordon Badcock, DoE supervisor, Expedition Leader, ESM Munich
“Excellent! Ceri is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the Award – having been an Award participant and leader. She is very organized in her preparation, both for the students and the teachers/adults involved. She ensured we were all comfortable and confident in our roles and was open to discuss feedback and concerns. The children were inspired and dedicated to the Award under 4elements.”
