Disconnect from the outside world and immerse yourself in the beauty of this little piece of Dolomites heaven. Based in a charming and comfortable mountain lodge, we undertake day hikes to explore the wild and wonderful trails, panoramas, flora and fauna which make this pocket of the Dolomites so enchanting.
Perfect for women who love hiking, nature and alpine exploration at a relaxed pace. Each day we hike to explore a different corner of this area, pausing along the route to absorb the scenery, scents and sights through mindful activities. Some days, we have the opportunity to take a dip in an alpine lake or simply meditate beside the tranquil waters or let ourselves be inspired by the rocks and trees.
Our mountain lodge base offers the best of South Tyrolean and Ladinean hospitality – charming hosts, delicious local and Italian food, wine and coffee. We are well-looked after with a sumptious breakfast and delicious evening meals, plus comfortable shared rooms exclusively for our group, where bedding is provided-a very comfortable mountain hut experience!
So what are you waiting for? Come and soak up the magic of the Dolomites with us!
This is an easy – medium difficulty tour - perfect for hikers or walkers with a good fitness. Previous alpine hiking experience is an advantage. We meet in the afternoon at our hotel in the beautiful old city of Brunico. We have a pre-tour briefing, review our packing and any questions. Extra luggage can be left in the hotel during our tour. We then head into the old city of Brunico for a little exploration and dinner at a local restaurant.
We head into the Fanes-Braies Nature park with the local bus or car. There we hit the trail to the Rifugio Fanes, our lodge and base for the next three nights. We soon head off a wide forest track to a smaller track unravelling the incredible scenery of the area with every step. On arrival at the Rifugio, we enjoy lunch on the sunny terrace before checking into our rooms. In the afternoon, we explore the local surroundings with a gentle walk and time for relaxation.
Today we head along the old military road towards the prominent local peak of the Col Bechei Dessora. Our route takes us over the Limojoch and along a path with magnificent views across the local peaks of the Dolomites. We reach the remains of an old artillery position from the First World War before the last ascent to the summit for breath-taking panoramas far and wide. Our descent returns via the emerald waters of the Limo Lake where we stop for a dip and some relaxation before returning to our lodge for a well-earned coffee and cake.
Today we head up and into the Fanes Karst plateau, geologically fascinating and kingdom of the marmots. Our trail then descends to the Parem Lake where we stop for a picnic lunch, a dip and rest. The final stretch of the day takes us through fairy-tale pine forests down to the charming Lavarella Hut where we make a break for coffee and cake before returning to our lodge.
We start today’s hike along the familiar military road south – east of the lodge towards the Valun Blanch. Again remnants of the history of the area are revealed to us along the trail. Our path zig-zags up to Monte Ciastel, an intersection point along the “Sentiero della pace” (the Path of Peace) where we are met with incredible views over the Tofane mountains and Val Travenzes. We stop for a picnic lunch, explore the bivouac shelter and spend some time connecting with the elements, history and views of this point before descending back the way we came.
After a relaxed breakfast, we check out and bid farewell to our wonderful lodge. Before starting our descent, we make a short detour to the Grünsee Lake for one last dip and a reflection of our days together. Our final descent takes us down the forest track to Pedrü. From there we return to Bruneck via public bus or car.
We meet the first night at our hotel Hotel Corso im Graben in the historical Old Town of Brunico. Here we are accommodated in twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The hotel also has a Turkish steam room and a Finnish sauna.
At 2,060 metres in the heart of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, Rifugio Fanes is a welcoming alpine refuge that perfectly blends South Tyrolean and Ladin charm, comfort and tradition. Established in 1928, this family-run mountain hut has long been a beloved stop for hikers, skiers, and nature lovers exploring the high plateaus of the Alpe di Fanes. The warm, wood-panelled interiors, historic photographs, and authentic Ladin details immerse you in the alpine hospitality and provide a deep connection to local culture. Known for its friendly atmosphere and exceptional cuisine, Rifugio Fanes serves hearty South Tyrolean and Ladin specialties crafted with fresh, regional ingredients.
We stay in private comfortable rooms (twin or triple) with bedding and towels provided. Washrooms and showers are shared.
Most accommodations across the Alps can cater for most food allergies e.g. gluten free, celiac etc if they have the information in advance - please let us know upon booking or latest 2 weeks before!
