Women's Alpine Hut Hiking Foundations

Women’s Alpine Hut Hiking Foundations

An introductory weekend course in mountain planning, navigation, safety and hut-to-hut skills.

Have you been dreaming of heading into the mountains, spending a night in a mountain hut, and experiencing the magic of alpine hiking, but aren't sure where to start?

Planning a trip in alpine terrain involves more than simply choosing a trail. How do you select a route that matches your experience and fitness level? What should you pack? How do you assess weather forecasts and alpine conditions? And how do you create a solid route plan that helps you stay safe and enjoy your adventure?

Over the course of three days, you'll learn the essential skills and strategies needed to plan your own mountain hut adventures with confidence. Through a combination of practical learning and hands-on experience, you'll develop the knowledge to make informed decisions before and during your hikes.

In a supportive and encouraging environment, you'll get to grips with map reading, both on paper and digital platforms, learn the fundamentals of navigation and route planning, and gain an introduction to risk management in alpine terrain. By the end of the weekend, you'll have the tools, skills and confidence to take the next steps towards planning and enjoying your own hut-to-hut adventures.

For more than 20 years, Ceri has been leading outdoor education programmes and teaching practical mountain skills to both adults and young people. She has guided groups throughout the Alps and beyond, helping people build confidence, develop sound mountain judgement and discover the freedom of exploring wild places safely.

Passionate about connecting people with nature, Ceri creates supportive learning environments where participants feel encouraged to learn, challenge themselves and grow in confidence, regardless of their previous experience.
