Perfect for women who love hiking, nature, and alpine exploration, this trip combines spectacular trails, remote and idyllically located mountain huts, and expert guidance to ensure a safe and unforgettable experience.
This is a medium difficulty tour- perfect for hikers with experience in alpine terrain and good fitness. You should be prepared to walk between 4-7 hrs per day – with the longest days’ ascent being a 1100m climb. The walking pace will be around 300m/hr (ascent).
Previous hiking and multi-day hiking experience is needed, as are steady footing & a head for heights.
Rucksacks should weigh no more than 7-9kg depending on personal size and weight. (We will cover this in the webinar).
Kick off your adventure with a scenic boat ride across Königssee, Germany’s most iconic mountain lake. Begin your hike into Berchtesgaden National Park, ascending to the Kärlingerhaus above Funtensee, an alpine lake and natural wonder renowned for its beauty and unique climate- perfect for a post-hike dip for the brave!

Traverse the magnificent Steinernes Meer, a rugged karst plateau filled with dramatic rock formations. Arrive at the Riemannhaus, perched high above the valleys, offering panoramic views and warm alpine hospitality.

Hike through awe-inspiring alpine trails leading to the Ingolstädter Haus. Along the way, discover the unique geology and flora of the region, with magnificent views of the surrounding “stone sea”.

Descend through lush meadows and enchanting valleys, arriving at the Alpengasthof Hirschbichl. Enjoy a well-deserved evening of relaxation in a traditional mountain guesthouse. Following a delicious dinner, we have the opportunity to celebrate our trek with a camp fire.

Accommodation along this route has been selected for its character, traditional atmosphere and scenic location- giving you a mix of accommodation style.
Where possible we are in private 4-6 bed rooms. The final night we are in shared dorm in an alpine guesthouse.
Due to the remote locations, resources are limited, therefore there may not be the opportunity to shower at all huts. Wash facilities are available.
Breakfast and dinner is included in the trek fee. Lunch, snacks and drinks are not included.
Most accommodations across the Alps can cater for most food allergies e.g. glutenfree, celiac etc if they have the information in advance - please let us know upon booking or latest 2 weeks before! Vegetarian options are also mostly readily available. Vegan eaters won’t go hungry, but will have limited options.
Berchtesgaden National Park, nestled in the South Western corner of the Bavarian Alps, is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and diverse ecosystems. This alpine paradise is home to the fjord-like lake Königsee, dense forests, and dramatic peaks. One of its highlights is the Steinernes Meer, or "Sea of Stone," a vast karst plateau offering unique geological formations and panoramic views. Hikers are drawn to this region for its spectacular trails, fascinating flora and fauna and the opportunity to immerse themselves in a landscape shaped by glaciers and time. This trek takes us deeper into one of Germany’s most spectacular protected areas.
By public transport: Train via Freilassing and then bus from Berchtesgaden (3hrs)
By Car: via the A8 München – Salzburg, exit Bad Reichenhall. Via B20 to Berchtesgaden to Parkplatz Königssee (paid parking) (Tip: Exit at Bad Reichenhall, otherwise you will need the vignette toll for the small section through Austria) (2.5hrs)
By Public transportation: 840 Bus from Salzburg to Jennerbahn, Schönau am Königssee (1hr)
By Car: via B160 (avoiding tolls on the motorway) via Marktschellenberg and Berchtesgaden (40mins)
